Faith Based Federal Emergency Responses simply won't do anymore John McWon't... This isn't enough buddy... Obama buried that today when he grabbed a shovel and worked.
ARLINGTON, VA -- U.S. Senator John McCain today issued the following statement on the flooding in the Midwest:
"Our thoughts and prayers go out to all those impacted by the flooding throughout the Midwest. Cindy and I would like to extend our sympathies to all those who have lost loved ones, and stand ready to help those in the Midwest to recover and rebuild."
Is it too much to ask for a President that we can Respect... Enough with the Talk, Grab a Shovel!

An Observation I made today crystalized my party identity, probably for life. There is a sad fact about living in a disaster zone (I've been through my share of Hurricane's in Louisiana); the fact is that when the disaster is ongoing, you don't really watch TV to see what others are saying about the disaster... and implications. That said, this morning, I was taken aback while watching on one of the Fox News Business Saturday Programs, they had a hard right leaning Financial pundit (who in earlier segments argued against Obama's Tax Plans and Indexing Minimum Wages) who actually said, with a straight face, to the camera, that there should be no government bail out of those affected in these floods because they chose to live where they have, and must accept the risk inherent in that, as this is how the market works; maybe they'll move further away from the river.
I was stunned, shocked, and saddened. The storms and floods that are ongoing in places are on a 100-500 year flood plain, essentially, far far beyond the normal flood zoning that one would expect in the river town areas. A Government Bail Out is Certainly Necessary to help these towns rebuild; the Corn Crops are in disarray and the storms simply won't let up... and that leads me to conclude, where is Bush in this? Why isn't he the one shoveling with Barack? If he can clear some brush, he can shovel some sand and give people some hope... Then again, if he was that sorta man, a real man, I don't think the hunger for change would be as great as it is now would it.
Obama visited the flooded Midwest later Saturday, stopping in Quincy, Ill., to help fill sandbags.
In Quincy, Obama helped volunteers fill sandbags that are being trucked to reinforce levees on both sides of the Mississippi River, less than a mile away. Authorities expected the river at Quincy to reach a near-record level of 32 feet by Wednesday. Severe flooding already has hit Cedar Rapids, Iowa, northwest of Quincy.
"Since I've been involved in public office we've not seen this kind of devastation," Obama said as he used a shovel to fill bags being held by local resident Dylan Muldoon, 10. He vowed to push the federal and state governments to provide needed aid to the stricken areas.
